Liverpool Sound City are pleased to announce that Paloma Faith and Speech Debelle will be headlining shows at this year’s festival.

On Sale Now

And aren’t we in for a treat...Paloma who once joked about slumming it at festivals “Anywhere you can’t wear stilettos just isn’t worth going” is going to feel perfectly at home in the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, home of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Centrally situated between Liverpool’s two cathedrals, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall is one of Europe’s finest art deco buildings and has an illustrious tradition of bringing the top names from rock, jazz, classical, folk and roots, and contemporary music to Liverpool.

Paloma Faith

And Faith’s background has spectacular show written all over it….the effervescent, half Spanish, half British lady is an ex magicians assistant, and burlesque dancer, who is trained in contemporary dance and has an MA from St. Martins in Theatre Direction.

And more than anything Faith is looking forward to it as much as us claiming “I'm so excited to perform at such a prestigious event; Liverpool is supposed to be the centre of the arts in Britain and that's where I want to be, smack bang in the centre of the arts!”

Speech Debelle

Two nights later our partner venue O2 Academy 2 Liverpool will play host to 2009’s Mercury Music Prize Winner ‘Speech Debelle’.

Debelle has risen from hostel dwelling and bad deeds on a wave of critical acclaim to an articulate, honest and abrupt performer whose thoughts, beliefs, mistakes, love, anguish, humour are reflected in every performance. Like all musicians worth listening to, she draws you into her universe and makes you glad you visited. There's always a thaw to the chillier moments.

O2 Academy 2 Liverpool launched with local heroes Shack in 1993 and quickly made a fantastic names for itself, thanks to its unique warehouse feel and secondary stand-alone venue, O2 Academy 2 Liverpool, that not only offers great diversity for club nights but also acts as a showcase forum for unsigned talent from the surrounding areas and a platform for new bands on national tours. Since opening, fans have got up close and personal with artists on their rise to the top, and this is no different for Liverpool Sound City audiences who will be able to experience a full programme of headline events in the venues.
