Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely created by its Residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by millions of Residents from around the globe and numbers continue to grow by hundreds of thousands each week.

This year, Liverpool Sound City is doing something that has never been done at a music conference/festival before - using multiple worlds to deliver some of the best music around along with developing industry chatter across the board.

Liverpool Sound City have partnered with Creative Cultures (www.creativecultures.biz) to deliver streamed content into Second Life, LIVE from the festival. For those who can't attend, users are able to log onto Second Life (www.secondlife.com) and visit the virtual Liverpool where the host venue (Hard Day's Night Hotel) will stream conferences by day and Liverpool's famous venues will stream gigs and parties by night. This is a world’s first for a music conference to fully utilise the incredible scope that Second Life, so no matter where people are in the world, if they are online they will be able to enjoy and explore Sound City in 3D!

Chris Meehan from Creative Cultures says that, “This is a huge part of Sound City’s overall direction and being in Second Life gives us the chance to create something unique for millions of people to access. We are working away making sure that for anyone who can’t be in Liverpool for the festival, they will be able to get involved online.”
