Shops Upfront Sessions:

As part of Liverpool Sound City taking music to the streets we will be running a series of events in conjunction with Liverpool City Council and the Shops Upfront Initiative. Every Saturday from 1pm Liverpool Sound City will host the cream of local bands who will play live from the old Rapid shop window at the top of Bold Street.  The bands will play from inside the shop window and their performance will be broadcast live to the shoppers of Liverpool.

Dave Pichilingi states ‘We are always looking for new ways to get music across to audiences in a new and exciting way.  The Shops Upfront and Grosvenor team have been amazing in making this happen and sharing our vision for bringing art and music to the people in new and exciting ways.’

The Window Shopping Sessions will take place Saturday 15th and 22nd May from 1pm.  They are free to the public.

Paul Rooney: McKenzie

St. Andrew’s Church, Rodney Street,

Wed 19 – Sat 22 May, open daily 4pm – 7pm

Free admission

McKenzie is a new sound work inspired by a local Liverpool legend about William McKenzie, a gambler who is said to have made a pact with the devil to ensure a winning hand in a poker game. Worried that the devil would claim him if he was buried underground, he left instructions that he was not to be buried, but instead encased in a pyramid, sat upright at a card table, with a winning hand of cards. This tomb still stands in a derelict graveyard on Rodney Street.
