GLAM! is now open at the TATE Liverpool. If you're a Liverpool sound city wristband holder you can get yourself discounted entry during May.
Heads up Liverpool, Glam is back in town! That visually extravagant pop style is being celebrated through a new exhibition at Tate Liverpool entitled: GLAM! The Performance Of Style.
The brand new exhibition is the first of its kind, exploring the futuristic sounds, extravagant fashions and glitter-dappled personas of the trend that grew from British art schools to take Britain by storm in the early 70s. Glam! The Performance of Style investigates the artistic developments of the genre and fashion throughout Britain, Europe and North American through painting, sculpture, installation art, film, photography and performance.
The collection brings together over 100 artworks, drawing on themes of glamour, camp, exaggerated identity, androgyny, eroticism and dandyism through the works of artists such as Avid Hockney, Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman and many more.
The exhibition also includes a new adaptation of Marc Camille Chaimowicz’s spectacular, glitter-strewn installation Celebration? Realife featuring mirror balls, strobe and stage lighting and music including David Bowie.
Glam! The Performance of Style runs from 8th February – 12th May at Tate Liverpool, tickets are £8, with concessions and family prices also available. Liverpool Sound City wristband holders will be able to recieve a discount on entry from the 2nd May when wearing their wristbands.
