We are excited to welcome back Liverpool John Moore’s University as Official Sound City Cultural Education Partner.  Students will be involved in a wide range of activities across Sound City and Sound City+ including Audio & Music and Broadcast & Media Production students capturing video footage, Events Management students shadowing the Sound City Wider Arts team, Journalism students blogging about festival artists and Welfare students shadowing the Sound City production team.  Five Business School students have been awarded delegate passes for outstanding work.

For the second year running, LJMU’s World of Work Team have funded Sound City TV, a live production team of 15 students in roles including camera, sound, editor positions which will be led by award winning director Glenn Hanstock.   Throughout the festival Sound City TV will  produce independent coverage of Sound City, including live footage, interviews and text-based content covering all aspects, they will even bring a drone to film aerial footage! Students also had the chance to apply for a month long Sound City+ conference internship opportunity that is funded as part of the LJMU Career Accelerator Internship Programme and we are delighted that Allaya Miah who is a second year student studying Criminology has come on board to work with us. Allaya said “I’m planning to do a Masters in Event Management after my degree so working at Sound City is fantastic as it’s giving me first hand experience in a really busy and fun events environment.  Thank you World of Work Team and Sound City!

Rebecca Ayres, COO of Sound City said “We’re delighted that we have such a strong representation of diverse course areas from LJMU represented at Sound City and it’s wonderful to have Allaya as part of the team.  We have consistently found LJMU students to be determined and entrepreneurial individuals and it’s those attributes that are needed to succeed in the music industry.  We look forward to celebrating the excellence of LJMU through Sound City this year.”
