Edge Hill University has signed on as the exclusive Industry-Connection partner for Sound City for the next three years in an ongoing effort to develop a platform for aspiring Liverpool musicians. Students will be involved in a range of roles across Sound City and Sound City+ including Edge Hill Dancers performing contemporary dance in front of The North Stage and across the festival site. Whilst a team of interviewers, sound techs and videographers will be capturing the Sound City Festival and interviewing artists. We are also excited to welcome over 90 staff and students attending as delegates for Sound City+ , allowing them to make industry contacts. The Label Recordings stand can also be seen in our Expo Market.
Edge Hill University and The Label Recordings will take over our Cavern Stage from 3pm on both days of the festival. This is an exciting, one off opportunity, to see the next generation of up and coming North West talent. Irene and the Disappointments, Shrinking Minds, Youth Hostel and Calvary open for the Edge Hill showcase on the Saturday 28th May, whilst you can see Weekend Wars, Red Rum Club, Pink Kink and Feral Love on Sunday 29th.
Co-founder of The Label Recordings, Carl Hunter said “Edge Hill University students pursuing industry careers such as sound engineering, production, and marketing have also been heavily involved in Sound City 2016, and will be able to network and develop connections across the two days,”
Dave Pichilingi, CEO, Sound City said:
“We are really excited to be working with Edge Hill again in what is a really exciting year for the university and Sound City. They are again demonstrating phenomenal world class emerging talent on the Cavern Stage, whilst their presence at our Label Market is continuing to provide great opportunities to forge relationships with established labels and for students to demonstrate their talents.”
